Rush Hour


I've become interested in the brightly colored, repetitive patterns of late 1990s and early 2000s carpets. I present the rhetorical question, "Where did the arcade carpeting go?" As the landscape becomes more harsh for the animals of suburbia with industrialization, so does our surroundings with minimalist design and bland colors.

Spill It V3 is the third and final series of paintings that explores the topics of insecurity, the "spilling of guts", and my sense of self represented symbolically through road-killed animals. Here, there's the overarching theme of acceptance. The true colors of the guts are being revealed.

Here, there's the overarching theme of contradiction. The guts are present, but are obscured by unnatural, vibrant colors.

Here, there's the overarching theme of idealization. The guts are replaced by objects to make the gross sight more pleasant to look at.
