If a Fish Cries, Would Anyone Notice?

If a fish cries would anyone notice? Would anyone be able to see their tears through the water? Maybe for a saltwater fish it would be difficult to notice, but for a fresh water fish maybe the difference in salinity would be the telling factor.

Tar-manic Depression

Dead ends on either side, but I have hope the road goes on.

Parasite

You're never a[lone star] star with the people you have around you!

Dog Days

Woof… shit’s been rough (ruff)… Anyways, I made art to cope with my feelings.

Kirkland's Finest, Kirkland's Signature

There are three things that are certain in life: death, taxes, and the price of the Costco hotdog combo. Adjusted for inflation, the price of the combo would be $4.55. If that were to become reality, I believe that’s the true indication that we are in the end times.

Humor is in the Mind of the Beholder

Humor is a difficult thing because of its subjectivity. What exactly is funny? Is it dark humor? Is it self awareness? Humor is in the mind of the beholder and if it’s funny to me (which it is) then that’s enough.

In the Shadows

A conversation between the imagery and medium is had here. Interacting with the limestone matrix, its size, shape, and physical properties, the consideration of the space translates to conceptual thoughts about placement and belonging. The wildlife of suburbia find themselves in cramped conditions of what little space the human space has to offer them. Loneliness turns to emptiness in a place that seems barren, but small, flickers of eye shine offers a sense of hope that they still exist.

Jack-Asphalt

Jack be nimble, Jack wasn't quick.

Speed Bump

Oncoming and ongoing is the way things go on the tarmac. The gone little soul, or soon to be, is reduced to a speed bump. Life goes on where the life of the overlooked ends.

Tough Luck

The roads that wildlife cross come with a risk. Dice with death and see what you get.

It's Just Roadkill

Roadkill is an all-encompassing term that dismisses the individuality of the animal that meets its fate on the asphalt. Here's the construction and attempted deconstruction of their entanglement with each other, an exuberant display of the death of the animals that are often disregarded for their commonness in the suburban wilderness.

Birdhouse

On the visor of a traffic light above a busy intersection, I saw the nest of a European starling. "Birdbrain" is what first came to mind upon seeing this, but in learning that it's this specific bird's nesting behavior to build its home in prebuilt cavities, "birdhouse" is what I see now.

Peace Out

The unpredictability of tie-dyeing allows me to loosen up and have fun with the material, a contrast to the tight control of my line work. The roadkill opossum, still alive with its entrails spilling out from its abdomen, holds up its paw in a peace sign in its final moments as to say “peace out”.

Oncoming

Under the cover of night, lays a deceased raccoon on the asphalt. Working with the same image through the process of making deletions, there's the effect of increasing light from an oncoming vehicle which will inevitably strike the vulnerable animal again.

Nova

There once was a dragon who possessed similar qualities to that of a luna moth. Her life's mission was to create and so she did until her end.

Crybaby

There once was a dragon who got stuck atop a cloud. Unfortunately for him, he was afraid of heights and his wings were too small to make the flight back to the ground. The cloud absorbed his tears causing it to rain.
