I Have Your Back

An Atlantic herring with a large bite taken out of its back is carved on a piece of driftwood. Both sides of the wood were utilized in the printing process. One side was left untouched and the natural grain of the wood was printed for the background. The other side contains the image of the fish.

Roadkill

This is the first piece that I created that depicts roadkill. The raccoon's eyes are replaced with X's to show that the animal is dead, a humorous motif used in comics. The process of making the print, which involves applying pressure to the matrix and paper by running it through a press, simulating the action of the animal being run over by a vehicle, also plays into the humor.
